Dining out at the Jetty Bar – Bristol Harbour Hotel
Walking up to Jetty Bar you are greeted by the grand architectural. The Jetty Bar is situated to the left of the Bristol Harbour Hotel. With the stone pillars and bay tree plants showcasing the entrance, giving you a taste of elegance and luxury before you have even stepped inside.
We were shown to our table which was situated by the window. The seats are a luxurious velvet blue and absolutely massive. Our waiter offered to take my coat, however, I needed a moment to warm up from the cold winter air outside.
Sitting back and taking in the ambiance, you first feel very prestigious. There is a grandness to the room with its high ceilings and high windows. Looking at the windows you will notice it also contains Bristol blue glass. The decor inside is minimalistic and modern with twists of luxury.
The Jetty Bar offers an array of drinks and an open kitchen. The kitchen provides background noises of freshly cooked meals and aromas that make your mouth water and your belly beg.
Menu – The Jetty Bar
I am trying to be more decisive when it comes to ordering food as I suffer from menuitius. A word I have made up to describe wanting to try everything on the menu.
Starters – The Jetty Bar
With a little bit of guidance from our waiter, we opted to start with Giant Tempura Prawns £9.00 and Twice Baked Cheese Souffle’ £7.50
The starters arrived very promptly. The Giant Tempura Prawns are the largest prawns I have seen. The batter was tasty and light.
Being bought up in Cheddar in Somerset I am a cheese lover and I pride myself on making a darn good cheese sauce. However, this was my first cheese souffle’. The cheese sauce around the souffle’ was absolutely delicious. The souffle’ which was nice, light and fluffy was perfect to start with as I wasn’t left feeling heavy after.
Mains – The Jetty Bar
For my mains I thought I would be adventurous and pick the Monkfish and Tiger Prawn with Tikka Masala and saffron pilaf. £16.00
The meal came out completely different to what I had imagined. The presentation was remarkable. I was unsure at the time if the tikka sauce would be enough for me at first glance and yet it was just the right amount and no food waste.
I have never tried monkfish and it’s a fish I want to eat again. It does not have that strong “fishy” taste and has a firm texture. Once I had cut into the monkfish, I found the white succulent fish quite delicious.
The 8oz Ribeye Steak (£22.50) came out cooked exactly as requested (rare). Natalia, my plus one for the evening enjoyed every morsel of the ribeye. Leaving only scraps on her plate.
Dessert – The Jetty Bar
Feeling very satisfied with our food, we were then given the Dessert menu. I opted for the Dark Chocolate, Salt Caramel Delice (£6.50) My love for dark chocolate happened a few years ago and this was divine. Doesn’t it look tasty?
Natalia opted for the Sticky Toffee Pudding with Vanilla Ice Cream £6.50 which I had to try a little bit! It would be rude not to!!!!!
The Gold Room – Bristol Harbour Hotel
After eating our meal we headed for the Gold Room. We were able to have a drink in here but we had to get home. Although I certainly had a good nose about before we headed off.
I thought the decor was quite different in here, hmmm I am looking very stern indeed! Oh dear…
Behind me is an old cigar machine which I thought was quite original.
The furnishings are quite dark and all look very expensive.
I do love a fireplace and this one was no exception.
I have eaten in many restaurants and bars. Personally, I think the prices are reasonable as you are receiving quality food. All the food is freshly made to order and is sourced in the UK with many ingredients sourced locally.
The presentation is exquisite. Our waiter for the evening was prompt, polite and informative. Although a birthday group were also celebrating on a large table, in no way did this interfere with our meal.
This meal was gifted. All that is written are my thoughts and words.
Thank you to Socialight for organising and the Bristol Harbour Hotel for the opportunity to try your menu.
