Sidmouth Day Out

Sidmouth Day Out

Day Trip to Sidmouth in Devon

Last week was my friend Laura’s birthday. I had the day off work and we decided to visit Sidmouth in Devon. I hadn’t been here in years. The beach is pebbled and set upon the Jurassic coast line. If you like beach days check out my post on Woolacombe Bay, Devon.

We thought we walk around and soak up the atmosphere. We visited the Town centre. The Town is very British with the red telephone boxes and the vibrant colourful displays of flowers.

With the flags up and music being played by Ladies in a band. It had a feeling of a MayDay event.

For lunch, we went to the The Pea Green Boat this is situated on the Seafront. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the views overlooking the coast. The food here was so good. The Gentleman that served us was very knowledgeable and passionate about the restaurant that I thought he must own it or be a family member.

I was informed by the Gentleman this wasn’t the case when I asked. He told me that the Owner is very good to work for me and they enjoy working for him. How amazing is this?

To start with I thought I would try Curried cauliflower fritters with North Devon Cheddar and chive aioli. Costing £7.00. I wasn’t sure what to expect as I haven’t tried this dish before.

When the fritters arrived for us to share, I turned my nose up as I thought I had made a bad choice plus I really shouldn’t eat batter as it effects my stomach. I took a bite and it was super delicious. The curried flavour worked so well and the aioli complimented it superbly.

We literally left hardly anything on the plate. One of the best starters I have eaten.

For lunch Laura opted for the Chesil smoked chicken caesar salad with herb crouton, parma ham and anchovies. This cost £12.95 and looked super tasty apart from the anchovies. Not sure why as I do love most food apart from these little critters.

I ordered the Beetroot, goats cheese and candied walnut salad with balsamic dressing £12.95. This was massive and so flavoursome. It was a bit to much to eat for lunch. The Waiter kindly offered to put the left over pizza in a box for me to takeaway. This was great as I had left about half the pizza.

The Pea Green Boat gets a massive thumbs up from me. The food and the service was fab!

Sidmouth Beach is a pebbled beach. The water looked amazing. Along the shore the water looked red and due to the sun beaming down as I looked into the distance the shore had a beautiful pink hue. The reason for this is due to the red clay.

The contrast of colours is amazing to see.

We took the opportunity to have some photos taken as I thought that it was such great scenery.

I made a video of the day too. Have a look here Sidmouth Video I so need a tripod as I film on the Nikon as it is really heavy.
